CNN Sued for $1.3 billion - $1 per Person in China
"HONG KONG (Reuters) - A Chinese primary school teacher and a beautician have filed a suit against CNN in New York over remarks they say insulted the Chinese people and are seeking $1.3 billion in compensation -- $1 per person in China, a Hong Kong newspaper reported.
The case against the Atlanta-based cable channel, its parent company Turner Broadcasting and Jack Cafferty, the offending commentator, comes after 14 lawyers launched a similar suit in Beijing alleging that Cafferty's remarks earlier this month violated the dignity and reputation of the Chinese people."

The poster is the government’s answer to a different sort of sign left in late January at the bottom of a monument honoring fallen police officers: a hand-scrawled list of 22 officers, 5 of whom had already been gunned down in the street. The sign warned that the others would also be killed “unless they learn.” In all, eight police officers have been assassinated here this year and three are missing. "

McCain to Take Best of Liberalism and Conservatism
Republican National Convention Alternate Delegate
While I’m not ecstatic about the national Republican party, I am excited about the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the party and the political processes. I am also excited for the opportunity to help guide the party back to its roots and heritage of limited government and freedom.
We all know that reformation within the GOP is needed right now more than ever… and I truly hope and pray that we can turn this ship around before it’s too late. But the only way to turn a ship, is to jump into the water and start paddling! :) Right now we need true conservatives within the party to pry control away from the “Moderates”, Liberals, Socialists, etc… (yes those exist in the Republican party). We need leaders who will unabashedly stand up for biblical principles, conservatism, and the truth. Who will not bow and bend their principles in order to fit-in with the crowd. We are sorely in need of people to stand in the gap and confront the socialistic philosophies that Republicans in general are gravitating towards. We need people who will not allow false premises to stand when debating issues, but rather confront the premise and deal forthrightly with the issues at hand. And above all else, we need Godly men who will stand up for biblical governmental principles. So get involved and help change the party and country! :)

Ronald Reagan 1964 RNC Speech
After watching the speech I noticed that just over 2,000 people have actually viewed this historical video. And I began to think, how many people have never heard this speech before??? Now days there are YouTube videos that have MILLIONS of views, but does anyone care to take a few minutes to watch this speech to educate themselves on our Country's political history? Nope. Instead we're too concerned with the latest sports or pop star and what is going on in their lives. It's sad.

Multi-Generational Failure: Amazing Secular Statistics
Labels: Liberalism, Multi-Generational Faithfulness, Socialism
This video brings out some of the topics that I have posted on lately, namely multi-generational faithfulness (i.e. The 200 Year Plan conference), as well as my wife's post on the documentary Demographic Winter.
The video presents some very startling statistics – coming from a secular perspective concerning job globalization and education in America. I have not verified the facts presented, so I cannot say whether or not they are all 100% actual. But if they are true, they are extremely mind-boggling! Here are few “multi-generational” ones to consider:
* China and India have more “honor students” than we have children. Wonder why…
* During the course of the video, 60 babies will be born in the U.S., 244 babies in China, and 351 babies in India.
The whole worldview of the makers of this video is obviously big-government socialists. But my two-second take on it is that the past 80-100 years of socialism in America hasn’t made the cut – we are falling further and further behind the rest of the world because of our lack of vision and multi-generational faithfulness. It’s time to return to Biblical principles and practices that our country was founded on in order to remedy the obvious issues that face America today.

The god of Sports and its Faithful Worshippers: Men
Labels: Articles, Children, Family, Multi-Generational Faithfulness, Sports
First experience: During lunch one day at the Masters Plan for Fatherhood Conference a gentleman from Alabama was discussing the sheer magnitude of the fanaticism exhibited by Auburn and Alabama fans in the state. He was relating some stories about how games are consistently sold out, some tickets go for $900 apiece, local television stations interrupt programming to show the airplane touchdown for the new coach/player, etc…
He also related the following story (paraphrased) of how his pastor tried to point out the worship of college football in the church (I have forgotten the name of the player that he used, but it doesn’t really matter). One Sunday his pastor said “The other day I ran into ‘such and such’, the quarterback for Alabama, and I asked him if he would come speak to us this morning. So, please welcome ‘such and such’.” He then paused for a moment to let the anticipation sink in - then he said “Now half of you perked up in your seats and started paying attention, the other half of you are Auburn fans and had your heads down mad that I had an Alabama player here. You were more concerned with hearing from a football player than you were from hearing from God’s word.”
He was dead on and I’m sure he made more than a few people think about their priorities.
Second experience: I had to travel to Charleston, SC on Monday for a business meeting. On the trip down I stopped in Augusta for gas, and I immediately saw this in front of one of the gas stations when I got off of the exit.
If you are having trouble detecting exactly what the object of the photo is, it’s the man in the lawn chair with a sign asking for “Badges” (aka tickets) to the Masters Golf Tournament. Seems innocent enough at first glance and thought… but to get the full effect you need to realize that this is a grown man probably somewhere in his 40’s.As I began to think about this man, I asked myself – “what would drive him to sit in a lawn chair at a busy intersection during the middle of a weekday afternoon trying to get tickets to a golf tournament? Doesn’t this man have anything better and more productive to be doing?” I had to come to the obvious conclusion that he did not.
Third experience: While in Charleston at the hotel, I began flipping through the sports section of the paper. On the back page was an article on Pat Riley being inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.
(AP Photo/Lennox McLendon, file)
Here are a few excerpts from the article:
“Pat Riley is fond of saying that he's had 16 coaches, the first of whom was his father.
Leon Riley died 38 years ago, but in life's great moments, he still permeates his son's every thought. Pat Riley longed for him to be there when he won his first NBA championship as a head coach in 1982. He spoke eloquently about him two years ago in Dallas as the Miami Heat celebrated their title.
And Monday, when he was introduced as a new inductee to the Basketball Hall of Fame, Riley's mind was, once again, on his dad.
"His voice has always been with me," Riley said. "And it's been the only voice. I lost that voice in 1970. I was 25 years old. And while there's been a lot of other men in my life, most of them coaches, his voice has been the most predominant in my mind."
As I began thinking about Pat Riley and his obvious esteem for his father, I wondered – “What has Pat Riley truly accomplished? Why has he been so motivated to achieve greatness in sports? Why have thoughts of his father “permeated” his life for the past 38 years?”
Then I started thinking about these experiences together I came to a few conclusions (that have been very well stated by Voddie Baucham in some of his messages – my “conclusions” are really just reinforcements of his assertions).
1) Men view and place sports as one of the highest priorities in their life – above God, Family, and Work. When is the last time you saw a man spending a full afternoon enjoying the company of his wife? Or discipling his son or daughter? No, rather than do either of those things, we will sit in lawn chairs on a street corner looking for tickets to the “greatest golf tournament”. What does this say to our children? To me it says: “Tickets to one golfing event is well worth a wasted afternoon. However your life and success in life is not – I just don’t have time for it.”
2) Men spend their entire lives trying to either accomplish greatness in sports, or live vicariously through others who do. Yes Pat Riley made a career out of his passion for basketball – and he accomplished greatness in his career. But if you really evaluate his accomplishments, how do they line up with the accomplishments of truly great men in history (George Washington, Thomas Edison, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, etc..)? Is there even a comparison at all? Pat Riley has demonstrated the ability to motivate men to consistently put a ball thru a hoop for 48 minutes on 80 nights out of the year. You decide.
Question: The obvious question is: why do men elevate sports to this level of idolatry? I believe the answer lies with fathers themselves.
To give a little background on Pat Riley; he is the son of a failed MLB baseball player, whose later mission in life was to achieve a manager’s position in the MLB (Lee Riley). Do you wonder if Pat’s devotion to the game of basketball had anything to do with the priorities that his father set and modeled for him? From what has been written about his childhood, I would assert that they more than likely did. Here are a few excerpts from “Lives of Riley”:
"It was a nice place to raise a family, but for Lee Riley, father of six and career minor leaguer finally manager of the local Phillies' farm team, Schenectady was where the trail ran cold. He hadn't come to settle down but to work his way up the ladder of the Phillies' minor league system. When he was released, it was as if he'd been shipwrecked there.
Lee's life after baseball was a disappointment his kids could feel in their bones. There was a silence in their home, and Pat, the youngest of the six, would spend the rest of his life trying to shatter it, to fill that house with warmth after the fact."
……
"Lee had missed being a star, but he thought he had a promise to come to the big team. Instead he was released in In disgust, he threw out every uniform, baseball, trophy and photo he had and went looking for work after a lifetime that had trained him only to play a game.
Said Pat years later to PBS' Charlie Rose: "I could sense his disappointment for years after that ... not being able to fulfill maybe his lifelong dream which was to manage a major league team. I never had a chance to sit down with him and talk about it. He never said, `Hey, this is what they did to me,' or `This is what happened.' I mean, even Mother rarely even talked about it. But it ended very bitterly, and he carried that with him for a long time."
As for our friend in the lawn chair, I would guess that if we were to ask him what his favorite memories were growing up, they would be related to his father and sports activities.
Conclusion: Men in America today have elevated sports to the status and level of a god. And as such, as is inherent with religion, what fathers worship so will their sons. Thus the idolatry of sport worship is passed on from generation to generation. However, not only does this worship pass on to each generation, but its fervency grows as sons try to meet or exceed their fathers devotion to this god.
This cycle of idolatry will eventually bring about great moral collapse in society. A society cannot last when each generation worships sports/personal pleasure more than the previous generation. At some point sports will become more important than anything else in society and the country will cease to generate the necessary economic products and goods needed for the society to sustain itself.
At this point you are probably asking what I have against sports? My answer: nothing… put into proper perspective, priorities, and purpose. I write all of this as a man who once worshipped the god of sports (basketball). As a young man in my teenage years my life and thoughts were consumed with sports. I lived, ate, slept, and dreamed basketball – for many years it was my life (it was my god). So I come from a perspective of understanding this idolatry.
Men must begin taking responsibility and stop seeking their own personal pleasure through sports. Instead, men must begin discipling their sons and teaching them to be men, not boys playing on the playground. Recreation is necessary and good, God has definitely given us a desire for fun and a need for exercise, but it must be achieved by God’s methods. We cannot continue to supplant the knowledge of God with our own, which we have accepted from the world around us. We must begin seeking God to enlighten our hearts and minds on this issue and forsake the knowledge of this world if we are going to relay a love for Christ to the next generation.
Hate it or love it, feel free to leave a comment. :)
Update: As I was preparing this post I came across this video. If this doesn’t clearly show the fanaticism and idolatry of sport worship, I don’t know what will.

The Masters Plan for Fatherhood Conference
In addition to the conference, the fellowship that the three of us had on the trip was wonderful! It was a time of manly bonding and encouraging conversation in the Lord, as well as a few humorous experiences at Starbucks (multiple times) and Texas Roadhouse due to the language difficulties, er um I mean “barriers”, that my Romanian brothers face :).
Here are a few pictures from the trip (sorry about the quality of some of them).
There is nothing like hearing a room full of men singing for the glory of God! It is a glorious sound… there’s just something about men lifting their voices to their Maker in Heaven.

Less Restrictive Gun Legislation Passed in GA!
"An amended version of House Bill 89 allows holders of concealed weapons permits to carry guns into restaurants, state parks, and on MARTA trains and other public transportation. The legislation, which gun-rights proponents hailed as a major victory, also allows employees to leave weapons in parking lots as long as it's okay with the company."
Of course the liberals are in uproar over it...
"It's the most sweeping change in Georgia's history. It's awful," she said. "I think some of the folks who voted for it are going to regret it later."
And I guess that we'll have to start asking for a Profit & Loss Statement from restaurants before we carry our weapons in. ;)
"The bill allows permit holders to carry guns into restaurants as long as more then half the profits of the establishment come from food. Those carrying guns are also prohibited from drinking."

Precious Daughter

Yesterday morning as I was backing out of the drive way going to work Davina poked her head through the shades to say goodbye. She blew me a kiss and gave me the "I Love You" hand signal. :)
She is so sweet and is such a blessing to me... she LOVES her Daddy and wants to be with me always. I can't tell you how much this means to me and how precious it is. My wife and my children are the joys in my life that make each day so precious. I thank and bless God for them every day.
Bob Newhart on Psychology
Seriously though… It’s a humorous take on psychology, but at the same time it’s sad when you stop and think about the unregenerate man’s spiritual state and his inability to just “stop it!”.
We can all say “stop it!”, and we should, but we should also remember that only with and through the power of Christ and the Holy Spirit can man truly overcome his “issues” and “stop it!”. Everything else relies on man’s will and ability to overcome his sin nature, which may provide temporary relief, but will ultimately fail. So our first goal when counseling should be to proclaim the Gospel of Christ and His Power!
GA Senate Passes Bill to Allow Guns in Restaurants and on MARTA
"Georgians with concealed weapons permits could carry guns on MARTA trains, and into restaurants as long as they don't drink, under a bill that passed the Senate after two rounds of contentious debate Wednesday.
Senators tacked the provisions onto HB 257, a bill that would have allowed Magistrate Court constables to carry guns, and significantly expanded its scope."
It is really scary to read some of the quotes from our politicians - I guess I'm just floored that they REALLY do view themselves as nursery maids looking after todlers! They don't view ANYONE as an adult, everyone must be "protected from themselves".
"Sen. Nan Orrock (D-Atlanta) urged fellow senators to think about whether they wanted armed people on the city's public transportation system.
"Is it wise to send the message that it's open season for gun-toters on MARTA?" she asked.
Orrock also questioned the practicality of enforcing the no-drinking rule for gun carriers at restaurants.
She asked whether lawmakers should broaden the scope of the law to "allow people armed to the teeth with alcohol within arms length."
