Former BB&T CEO: Failed Education System and in 25 Years the U.S. Will Be a Third-World Country if We Don't Change Direction

Here's a great clip with John Allison (former BB&T CEO) and John Stossel discussing our public education system. We had a good discussion about this at our Jackson County GOP party meeting this morning... and our main speaker (and a lot of others) agreed with the young man who Stossel mentioned "it's government's job to come in and give people that good education".  Unfortunately they refuse to acknowledge the facts about public schools - #1 they are failing and #2 they are socialistic in nature and therefore, if for no other reason, should be eliminated in their current form.

People need to be honest and acknowledge that public schools are no different than the "public option" for healthcare that Obama and the Democrats pushed. The philosophy behind these two programs are the same - socialism ("from each according to their ability, to each according to their need"). So while Republicans everywhere are "outraged" over Obama's healthcare plans, they are at the same time fighting each other to see who can throw more of our money at socialized education and think nothing of it. Kind of sickening really.
"...and we have a failed K thru 12 education system"

"Now, it's a long-term trend," Allison said. "We will have some kind of economic recovery and we'll have some economic growth. I think the most likely intermediate scenario is stagflation like the 1970s."

John McCain: Country First! Right...

I just got an email from John McCain's reelection campaign asking for money. In it he states the following:
President Obama is leading an extreme, left wing crusade to bankrupt America -- leaving the bill with our children and grandchildren. I stand in his way every day in an effort to serve as a voice for the millions of Americans who disagree with the direction he is taking our country.
How is it that a mere few months ago he was defending Obama and saying "I'm sure that he respects the Constitution of the United States" (amid boos from the audience)? He went on further to say that "he is the President and we need to be respectful", as if to say that questioning his motives was disrespectful. See the video here...

And then to go back further - during the campaign in 2008 McCain said this about Obama: "he is a decent person, and a person that you do not have to be scared of as President...". See the video here...

So what is it Senator McCain? Is he a good and decent person who upholds the Constitution? Or is he the leader of a "extreme crusade" against America? Guess you don't really hold to that "Country First" stuff do you? But rather whatever is more politically expedient for you at the moment.

Obama the Liar?

First to start it off the head of C-SPAN wrote letters to President Obama and the leaders in Congress requesting that they open up the conference meetings concerning the Nationalized Healthcare bill.

"President Obama, Senate and House leaders, many of your rank-and-file members, and the nation's editorial pages have all talked about the value of transparent discussions on reforming the nation's health care system," he wrote. "Now that the process moves to the critical stage of reconciliation between the chambers, we respectfully request that you allow the public full access, through television, to legislation that will affect the lives of every single American."

Now lets watch WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs dodge the question -

Now lets watch Obama say eight (yes that's 8) times during the campaign that all healthcare negations and discussions would be open and transparent AND on C-SPAN!

And finally lets watch Nancy Pelosi take a swipe at Obama's campaign promises - and calls this the "there never has been a more open process for any legislation in anyone who serves here's experience." Right!

Pelosi emerged from a meeting with her leadership team and committee chairs in the Capitol to face an aggressive throng of reporters who immediately hit her with C-SPAN’s request that she permit closed-door final talks on the bill to be televised.

A reporter reminded the San Francisco Democrat that in 2008, then-candidate Obama opined that all such negotiations be open to C-SPAN cameras.

“There are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail,” quipped Pelosi, who has no intention of making the deliberations public.

Brit Hume to Tiger: Get Christ!

Wow! This is very refreshing to see someone in the national media actually recognize that other religions (including Buddhism) will not save your soul, but rather Christ is the ONLY way, the truth and the life.

...Whether he can recover as a person depends on "his faith. He's said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redeption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, "Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Didn't know this before now, but apparently when Brit Hume retired he said he wanted to focus on his relationship with Christ.

I certainly want to pursue my faith more ardently than I have done. I'm not claiming it's impossible to do when you work in this business. I was kind of a nominal Christian for the longest time. When my son died (by suicide in 1998), I came to Christ in a way that was very meaningful to me. If a person is a Christian and tries to face up to the implications of what you say you believe, it's a pretty big thing. If you do it part time, you're not really living it.
